TalkShopLive - Reimagining Shopper & Seller Onboarding

A product design challenge focused on increasing activation, improving seller success, and creating a more intuitive live-commerce experience.

2025

problem

TalkShopLive’s existing onboarding created friction for both shoppers and sellers. New users landed on a generic homepage with no personalization, while sellers were pushed into a long, transactional setup flow that asked for payout details before they ever saw value. This led to early drop-off, low activation, and no clear path toward high-impact actions like adding products or creating a show.

solution

I redesigned onboarding around value-first moments: shoppers receive a personalized feed within seconds, and sellers enter a guided, confidence-building setup flow that immediately drives them to the highest-leverage action — adding their first product. The solution uses lightweight steps, clear progress indicators, and contextual guidance to increase activation and accelerate time-to-first-show.

Streamlining onboarding to boost activation and accelerate the actions that drive TalkShopLive’s marketplace growth.

the approach

I analyzed the existing flow, identified friction points, and mapped both shopper and seller journeys. From there, I used rapid lo-fi sketches to explore simplified structures, personalized entry points, and a more motivational seller setup experience. I then converted the strongest patterns into clean hi-fi screens aligned with TSL’s design system, adding new components where needed (stepper, improved forms, AI microcopy, progress indicators).

the outcome

The final concept creates a smooth, momentum-driven experience:

  • Shoppers get instant personalization and clearer pathways into live content.

  • Sellers receive a guided onboarding that rewards progress and pushes them toward revenue-generating actions.

  • The redesigned flows support TalkShopLive’s goal of increasing activation and growing marketplace GMV 2–5× in 2026.

Wireframes focused on collapsing unnecessary steps, consolidating identity creation, removing early friction (like premature payout setup), and designing a clear, motivating stepper that leads sellers directly into adding their first product.

The polished UI introduces improved hierarchy, new design-system components, and a more modern visual rhythm. Each screen reinforces clarity, reduces cognitive load, and provides strong guidance — allowing shoppers and sellers to feel successful within their first minute on the platform.
